Students will prepare an interoffice memo, email message, and press release that reflect ethical and effective responses regarding the creation of a new product or service for their assigned organization.
Interoffice Memo (25 points)
Description: You will write a memo describinga new product or service that your organization is offering. Your memo should contain a) the purpose of the memo, b) a summary of the new product or service and how it addresses a current need, c) a description of its benefits for your specific audience, d) policies or procedures employees need to be aware of in light of this new product or service and (e) any recommendations for employees.
• Use a standard memo heading. The memo should be addressed to your organization’s employees, and be dated with the due date for this assignment.
• Purpose. Introduce the new product or service: In a few sentences, provide a summary of the new product or service and how it addresses a current need.
• Description. Describe the benefits of the new product or service for your specific audience. Be specific.
• Policy. State the policies or procedures employees need to be aware of in light of the new product or service.
• Recommendations. State any further actions you would like employees to take regarding the new product or service.
Requirements: typed, 300-500 words, free of errors, follow the memorandum conventions outlined in class and in your book.
Rubric: Your memo will be graded on:
• Content – provides useful information that is relevant for describing the new product or service and its benefits, and documents need for it. In addition, presents clear and compelling messages for stating changing policies or procedures, and further recommendations for employees
• Audience – identifies appropriate audience and is written for appropriate audience. All content is targeted to this audience.
