Reflections

This section focuses upon how designing and implementing this project has helped me gain experience and develop my knowledge and skills. Therefore it is a summary of what I have learnt.

Aims of the project
The aim of this project was to identify what kind of data is available, consider how to integrate the different data sets together and present insights from analysis of the data sets. The project will give NHS Borders a consolidated data set, some useful reports and data for the system dynamics model which was developed doing by my course mate, Mark.

Conclusions

I have tried my best to do as much as possible in this project. Actually I try to integrate all data from 3 data sources but the data is not so complete so it is hard for me to integrate all the data. Finally, I can merged and integrated the data from ePEX (include data from community hospital) and Borders General Hospital only. I have generated a few reports about age group, gender, location and average length of stays about the Dementia patients that stayed in BGH, Caulshiels, Continuing Care wards and Community hospital. I hope that someone will continue my project to integrate the data from 3 data sources that may useful for other reports and models or my work can be beneficial to the new setup data warehouse team during their development in NHS borders.
