The pair-wise comparisons between universities start from the Criterion Reputation. Reputation indicates a university’s image in people’s opinion and some organizations’ judgment. Reputation may include such aspects as University Ranking, Award Winning, Research Quality and Teaching Standards which all relate to the education quality the student is going to receive, the living environment and the peer to communicate with in the next couple of years. Thus, reputation does matter in choosing a university to attend.
Please refer to table 1 for the reputation summary of the three alternatives. Now pair-wise comparisons between alternatives with respect to Reputation can be conducted. For each pair, first decide upon which university is the weaker one with respect to Reputation and assign weight 1 to this university. Then, using the AHP Fundamental Scale, assign a weight to the other university in the pair.
