Trust: the Key Factor in School Culture that Influences Student’s Subjectivity
In the article “Taiwanese Schools against Themselves: School Culture Versus the Subjectivity of Youth”, the author indicates that “Here a student’s subjectivity is arguably appropriated by the school for its purposes. It is not clear how much this interpretation was the product of the student’s subjectivity or the counselor’s”. (Levinson, Foley & Holland, 1996, p. 196) If a student studies in school is not for himself but for school, the student’s subjectivity will not last long. In my opinion, the most important factor that influences the student’s subjectivity is trust. Trust is not a tangible thing. It is an atmosphere of the school. It is also the foundation of people’s relationships.
