Comparative study between the UK and China in relation to HR recruitment
Recruitment and traditional recruitment methods
Recruitment is for specific roles is one of the most important activities an organisation will make when increasing its competitiveness. It could be said that HR Capital of a company is its most important asset and therefore the attracting of the “right” assets to the company is of the most importance.
Recruitment “Searching for and obtaining potential job candidates in sufficient numbers and quality so that the organisation can select the most appropriate people to fill its job needs. (Dowling and Schuler ,1990)
A survey carried out in the UK by the Charted Institute of personnel and development (2005) found that 85% of organisations experience recruitment difficulties and a lack of experience and specialist skills being the most frequent problems. (Bratton & Gold, 2007, p. 240)
Whether it is in the UK or China an organisation or Multinational Enterprise (MNE) needs to find the best personnel to remain and to be competitive. However different methods of recruitment exist between these two countries and the “Western” HRM practises are only beginning to be adopted by HR Managers and of where adopted are with Chinese characteristics.
