the aim of the coursework is to get you to synthesize across a wide range of the material in the course. This takes the form of an essay with a strict maximum of 2500 words (all inclusive – but diagrams and tables are (almost) “free” and can help the exposition considerably). There is just one topic:

There are no strict format rules – but make it clear by taking on board the following advice. Use one-and-a-half   or double spacing with generous margins since this helps the marker. Feel free to divide the text into sections if that helps the exposition. Use figures and tables – all figures have to be labeled above – like: Table 2: Summary Statistics and Figure 4: Average wages by education level and sex. All tables and figures should be explained in the text and located close to where they are referred to. Never put a page break in a table or figure, and never separate a table/figure form its title. And its important that you list all the works that you refer to (eg Walker and Zhu (2006) suggest ………..) and refer in your bibliography to all the works that you use - in sufficient detail that the material could be easily located by a reader – see the list above for examples.
