 Design a two dimensional roller coaster such that
• The roller coaster will be in one straight line
• It will consist of at least five and up to eight segments
• Each segment is to be described using a mathematical function
• The slope where the segments join must be as smooth as possible
• Mathematical justification needs to be shown for these joins
• Maximum height of roller coaster must be in keeping with current technology
• A loop , though physically impossible in two dimensions, may be included .
To be considered for the position your design must be unique and your application should contain
• A short covering letter and a neat sketch of the roller coaster
• Design details witch must be calculated algebraically, giving information on max/ min gradients and gradient change through each segment and demonstrating algebraically that the segment joins are as smooth as possible .Computers or Graphics Calculators will also be used but remember your aim is to demonstrate both your design and mathematical abilities
• A short report describing the experience of a person of a person on the ride, and most importantly.  any assumptions made and explaining any design features or design limitations
